Built in 1881 by David Sampson Gideon, one of the founders of the United Fruit Company, as a private residence and a private get away for Royalties and for the very wealthy. DeMontevins became a private hotel in 1929 continueing in its tradition of being the party central for movie stras,musicians,members and the head of the Royal family from England,Peru,Africa etc.
DeMontevins as also been the private gateaway for Jamaicas' distiguish Statesmen and National Heroes such as: Alexander Bustamante,Norman Manley, Donald sangster, Micheal Manley,Sir Florrisel Glosspole and Many others.
Today we still stick to the rules and values of its original owner which sre Privacy,comfort and enjoyment,complimented by great tasting food from our country kitchen.
