I am using this medium to share with you about our upcoming Special Needs Conference which will be held at the Jamaica Conference Centre, April 11-14, 2012. One of the primary objectives of this event is to bring together all the local, regional and US organizations that are providing services to this special needs population, so as to create awareness for those who require the services.

Horace Burey and Arieta Martin topped the third staging of the Portland National Health Fund 5k at Folly Port Antonio Sunday afternoon in seventeen minutes five seconds (17 minutes 05 seconds) and nineteen minutes fifty one seconds (19 minutes 51 seconds) respectively.

The shortage of doctors in the Public Health Services continues to plague the St. Thomas Health Department.
At the monthly meeting of the St. Thomas Parish Council, last Thursday, the Chief Medical Officer of the parish, Dr. D'Oyen Smith, said in order to ease the shortage facing the sector, assistance has had to be sought from the Princess Margaret Hospital, and from private doctors operating within the parish.

JIS Cholera education drive in Portland
Measures to control and prevent the spread of Cholera were highlighted at a community meeting hosted jointly by the Portland Health Department and the Port Antonio regional office of the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), Windsor Castle, Portland on Monday, February 28.
