Winnifred Beach Public Meeting

Dear residents and stakeholders:  The Winnifred Beach Benevolent Society in its continuous drive to maintain control of the Winnifred Beach is inviting you to attend a public meeting on Wednesday April 25, 2012 at the Poinciana Park Community Center.

The Save Winnifred Beach movement needs your help.  It’s our last free beach and now the UDC wants to sell it for private use.  Please join us to preserve Winnifred Beach for our children and keep it public.   Please s join us Friday, Nov. 25, at 12:30 p.m. in the Port Antonio square and let your opinion be known.

Free Winnifred Beach Update

Many people are asking what exactly the fight for Winnifred is all about.  Well the long and short of it is that the UDC is seeking an agreement with the local community for management of the beach.  The problem is that the agreement does not give the assurances that the community will be involved in the longer term.

Help Free Winnifred Beach

Did you know Winnifred Beach is still under threat?  One of the last remaining public beaches is still under threat of being taken over by the UDC.  We caught up with the Winnifred Benevolent Society to get an update on the current status of the battle and what the public can do to help.

Still no agreement on Winnifred Beach

THE ‘jury’ is still out on whether the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) and Portland residents can arrive at a consensus on public access to Winnifred Beach in the parish, ahead of an October trial date.
