THE body of Shane Anthony Burke was recovered from the sea about six miles from the

Shanshy Beach in Portland this morning.

The body was spotted by local fishermen about 6:45 and was taken up by officials from the Marine Police, JDF coast guard and local fishermen.

Sixteen-year-old Shane and 17-year-old Demel Osborne drowned Thursday after they got into difficulty while swimming during a school trip.

The tragic deaths rocked the country after it emerged that a bus carrying a group of St Andrew College students diverted to Portland instead of returning directly to Kingston after a field trip to St Mary to complete a School-Based Assessment project.

The school board will decide this week whether to impose sanctions on the teachers who were on the field trip.
