Annual Jamaica & Grace Kennedy Scholarship

This scholarship is tenable for any first degree at the University of the West Indies (Mona). Its tenure is for three to five years and it covers tuition fees, maintenance and book allowance. Applicants should not be older than 19 years on June 1 of the year of the qualifying examination (i.e. Cambridge A' Levels or CAPE).

 

Eligibility

Candidates should:

  • Be sitting the Cambridge ‘A’ Level or CAPE examination in at least three subjects and General Paper in June.
  • Have been born in Jamaica, or if not his/her parents should be domiciled in Jamaica either at the time of the applicants’ birth or during the entire period of five years immediately preceding the year of the examination.
  • Have resided in Jamaica for a period of at least five years immediately preceding the examination.

In the case of the Jamaica Centenary Scholarship applicant (Male/Female) must each submit a certificate showing that he/she has attended a Public Primary (Infant school excluded) for at least three years. The 2005/2006 awardee will be a female.

[The seven (7) Jamaica Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis to Jamaican Scholars whose performance was most outstanding in the G.C.E. ‘A’ Level Examination].

Conditions Of Award:

  • Successful candidates will be bonded to work in Jamaica for a period not exceeding five(5) years.
  • The Scholarship award is valid for the academic year immediately following the offer of the award and cannot be deferred for any reason.

When To Apply : March 1 – March 31
